Dept. of Painting Painting is a form of art which has existed in Korea, too, for the longest time. However, by the inflow of western paintings in modern days, Korean paintings experienced conflicts with our tradition and the genre of painting diversified. Presently, 3D paintings such as installation and video have been added to plane painting to lead the culture of art. In order to actively cope with such a various culture of art in the modern days, the Dept. of Painting aims to train superior professional artists who can produce creative paintings by integration of the functional, technical and aesthetic curriculum based on teaching of theories and practices.

Dept. of Digital Craft Arts The Dept. of Digital Craft Arts aims to avoid isolation of artistic activities from the real, combine the society and life with art, and make a beautiful social environment. The area of crafts is a unique genre of art which combines art with practical life. Using the characteristic of crafts, we study the themes close to real life that are pursued by modern crafts. We also develop the process of crafts using the theoretical background and practice with digital media to train craftsmen as refined persons.

Dept of Piano The western music and western musical instruments which began to be introduced in Korea in the early 20th century have taken root in the culture and art of Korea in a very short time. The piano is the basic instrument in understanding and conveying the western music and the role of the piano takes a big portion in all musical activities. The piano is used not only in solo piano recital and accompaniment to voice but also accompaniment to instrumental music, ensemble and accompaniment to orchestral music and the level of piano play keeps rising. We aim to train holistic women who can take an important part in the modern society by fostering world-class pianists when the stage of piano play is being expanded to the global dimension.

Dept. of Vocal Music The Dept. of Vocal Music aims to train able musicians and music teachers by developing the musical talent of the players who use their voice as musical instrument on the base of systematic theories and artistic expression by professional education. To achieve such a purpose, we provide individual education on vocalization methods, voice technique, diction in each language, interpretation of music through lessons in the major and are conducting wide education on theory and practice with the subjects of Voice Literature and Basic Body Training, vocal ensemble, chorus, opera workshop, etc. In addition, students have the opportunity to play the music of different composers of different ages in every semester have various stage experiences including opera, chorus and performance through auditions so that they can be equipped with the qualifications of singers and professional players for better treatment.

Dept. of Wind and String Instruments The department educates all the musical instruments used in an orchestra including strings, wind instruments and percussion. We focus on giving students the opportunity to acquire various kinds of repertoire and have much stage experience through regular concert, chamber concert, string ensemble, wind ensemble, orchestra concert, local concert at high schools, exchange concert with other universities, etc. We improve performance of each student by acquisition of repertoire of different ages from baroque and classic to romanticism and the modern days. We aim to foster solo players, chamber players, members of orchestra, music teachers and managers of musical institutes by balanced education of practice and basic theoretical education. We are making effort to develop more diverse and practical education methods for the training of practical musicians who can distinguish themselves in the professionalized 21st century.
